Aiden Celebrates Award from the Mars Refuel Drink Fund
Lacrosse player, Aiden Jakubik from Lincoln, is celebrating after receiving a £500 donation from the MARS Refuel Drink Fund.
Aiden has just graduated from Lincoln University, and has decided to set up Lincoln City Lacrosse Club to help bring lacrosse to the city. He is receiving advice in setting up the team from the English Lacrosse Association and hopes to start both a junior and senior team to help lacrosse make its mark in Lincoln.
Aiden says: “I started playing lacrosse just two years ago at university and from day one, I loved it! Once we have set up the new team, the plan is to play some friendlies so we get some practice before entering the team into the Northern England league next year.
“With the donation from the MARS Refuel Drink Fund we can buy helmets, gloves and sticks. This will kit the team out with the right gear and means we can get training and play for longer. A big thank you goes out to MARS Refuel.”
Research undertaken by MARS Refuel earlier this year revealed that almost a quarter of people feel that they don’t have enough money to start participating in sport, or to keep that involvement going.
The MARS Refuel Drink Fund was created to help people overcome the financial barriers and to play sport for longer by offering £500 awards to teams and individuals.
The MARS Refuel Drink Fund is taking applications until September 30 2011, and has £5,000 to donate each month.
Applications can be made online at www.marsrefuel.com offering support with anything from equipment and travel costs, to improving training grounds and club houses.
