BOSTON TAKES DOWN ORLANDO FOR FIRST WIN
The Boston Blazers (1-3) got into the win column Saturday night after
notching a 13-9 victory over the Orlando Titans (1-1) in front of 7,812
fans at TD Garden in Boston. Goaltender Anthony Cosmo made 29 saves
while forwards Dan Dawson and Daryl Veltman each finished with one goal
and five assists.
Veltman opened the game's scoring off a feed from Dawson just 43
seconds into the contest. Orlando was quick to answer, as forward Ryan
Boyle tied the score 55 seconds later. The rest of the quarter remained
a see-saw battle, and Boston entered the second period with a 5-4 lead.
Orlando took the lead early in the second quarter thanks to scores by
Mat MacLeod and Mike McLellan. Boston managed to retake the lead at 7-6
off a Kyle Ross goal at the 9:55 mark of the quarter. The Blazers never
relinquished the lead for the remainder of the evening.
Transition player Jordan Hall led the Titans with five points (one
goal, four assists). Goaltender Matt Vinc turned away 36 of 49 shots.
Forward Nick Cotter led the Blazers with four goals, and also added an assist.
