Cheadle and Stockport Clash In Flags Repeat

CHEADLE, the defending champions, and Stockport, last season's runners-up, have been drawn to face each other in the semi-finals of this season's Northern Senior Flags.

The mouthwatering match-up represents a repeat of last season's final which Cheadle won to complete a memorable title-double having also pipped their arch-rivals to the Men's North of England League Premier Division crown. Stockport are flying high at the top of the Premier Division, five points ahead of Cheadle having impressed with 11 successive victories.

And, in the only meeting so far this season between the two sides, Stockport beat Cheadle 8-5 back on Saturday 14th November. The two northern heavyweights are due to meet in the league again on Saturday 13th March, in what could yet prove a decisive match in the title race.

But this year's Senior Flags semi-final will be played a month earlier on this Sunday 21st February at a neutral ground. Cheadle and Stockport’s tie will be played at Manchester Wacs LC, Face off 2:00pm.

Rochdale and Timperley will clash in this year's other semi-final, this match has been postponed and rearranged for the 28th February. The Rochdale v Timperley tie is scheduled for a 2:00pm face at Manchester Wacs LC

This year's Junior Flags semi-finals will also be contested this Sunday 21st February, Norbury take on Timperley and Division 2 league leaders Sheffield University battle with Boardman and Eccles. Both games are to be played at Heaton Mersey LC, Norbury v Timperley A is scheduled for a 12:00pm face off, with Sheffield University vs Boardman & Eccles following at 2:00pm. Norbury will play Timperley A, while Sheffield University and Boardman and Eccles.

All of the semi-finals in the other three northern cup competitions will be played this Saturday 20th February, again a 2.00pm face-off.
