Sweden looking to upset Ireland
SWEDEN had plenty to smile about yesterday when they upset Wales with a fine and unexpected 9-5 victory.
And the Swedes have another chance to cause an upset when they lock
horns with Ireland, the Plum Division winners, as the duo battle it out
for a credible ninth place.
If Sweden do win they would gain plenty of deserved plaudits in their
first World Championships since 2002 in Perth, Australia, where they
finished ninth.
A defeat for Ireland, who are still the favourites, would result in a fall of three places to tenth in the standings.
And there's also plenty of action to watch for on the penultimate day
of this year's 15-day tournament which concludes tomorrow with the
fifth-sixth play-off between England and Germany, followed by Japan
against Australia for the bronze medal...and then the 'big one', the
United States versus Canada in the gold medal game.
