Penarth Lacrosse Club was founded in 1982 by former WLA International player Mrs C.A. Lloyd. The first Club session was held on Sunday Dec 5th at Penarth Athletic
Field. From the onset, these practices were open to both girls and boys.
Penarth Club attracted children from local Primary Schools who got
their first taste of Lacrosse in the many 'Playdays' and Tournaments
organised by the Club.
By March
1988, the boys outnumbered the girl members, and, in order to
accommodate these very keen and skilful players, the boys were
introduced to the more physical Men's game.
The Men's' Field game progressed and by 1991, the WLA felt increasingly
confident to include an U16 Welsh Boys' Team and a Men's' Team in an
International Festival of Lacrosse at Ebbw Vale on April 26th 1992.
